Field Hockey Honored By NFHCA For Classroom Work

The Panthers were honored for their classroom work by the NFHCA.
The NCAA Champion Middlebury field hockey team was recognized for its hard work in the classroom. The program, along with several individual student-athletes, were honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) in its announcements of the organization's postseason academic honors.
 
The Panthers were one of 69 schools to be honored with the 2024 National Academic Team Award. The honor is bestowed upon programs that have tallied a team grade-point average of 3.50 or higher during the fall semester of the current academic year. 
 
Sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, the National Academic Squad honors undergraduate student-athletes with a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher in the fall semester of the 2024-25 academic year. The Panthers tallied the second-most honorees with 24. Earning the distinction were seniors Lilly Branka, Kelly Cooper, Amy Griffin, Caroline Haggerty, Ellie Hughes, Hanna Medwar, Caroline Segal and Emily Stone. Juniors Sarah Bona, Georgianne Defeo, Ellie Harrison, Grace Keefe, Thea Rosenzweig and Madaket Rzepka, as well as sophomores Eliza Cho, Shawna Ferraro, Megan Fuqua, Ally Kennedy and Abigail Weidner, were recognized. Also tallying the honor were first-years Tessa Herbst, Emma McCann, Emma McNealy and Lily Stockwell.
 
Middlebury had the most Scholars of Distinction across the Division III level with 12. The award recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the fall semester. Cho, Ferraro, Haggerty, Herbst, Hughes, Kennedy, Lantzy, McNealy, Rzepka, Segal, Stockwell and Rosenzweig were each recognized. 
 
The honors continued to come for the program. With a 3.96 GPA, Segal received the prestigious Division III National Scholar-Athlete Award. The award is presented to the All-American undergraduate student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average through the fall semester of the current academic year.
