Middlebury's well-maintained playing fields and outstanding athletic facilities rank among the best in the country. The College boasts an 18-hole golf course and 3.5-kilometer Red Kelly cross-country and jogging trail on campus. The nearby mountain campus includes the Middlebury Snow Bowl for alpine skiing and the Nordic Outdoor Center. Outdoor facilities boast impressive views of the Adirondack Mountains and the Green Mountains, while the 2015 addition of Virtue Field House gave the school 110,000 square feet of indoor space, including a state-of-the-art squash center to go along with the hockey arena and Olympic-sized swimming pool.
