Middlebury Sits In Seventh With One Day Left As Men Have Strong GS Showing

Mika-Anne Reha finished in 20th place.
The Middlebury ski team sits in seventh place with 184.5 points with one day left at the NCAA Championships. The men's alpine skiers dominated the giant slalom (GS), tallying the most points (49) in a single discipline thus far for the Panthers. The performance came on the heels of the women's nordic squad earning 48 points during Thursday's classic.

Utah claimed both the men's and women's GS titles, propelling them into first in the standings with 417 points. Colorado remains in second with 382 points, while Dartmouth, who led after Thursday's competition, fell to third (380 points).

HIGHLIGHTS
  • The women started first, with Mika-Anne Reha pacing the group. The Panther garnered 20th place with a combined clocking of 1:59.81.
  • Sophia Tozzi completed her two trips down the mountain in 2:01.06 to finish in 26th.
  • Capping a banner year, Bradshaw Underhill placed fourth with a two-run clocking of 1:53.69. He had the second-fastest time on the initial trip (53.61 seconds).
  • Rounding out the group was Nicholas Unkovskoy, combining for a time of 1:54.89 to finish  13th.
NOTES
  • Underhill's fourth-place finish is the best for an alpine skier since the 2018 championship when Erik Arvidsson '20 (slalom) and Caroline Bartlett '19 (GS) both achieved the feat.
The nordic squad closes out the NCAA Championship on Saturday with the 20K freestyle mass start. The men begin at 10:00 a.m. with the women following at 12:00 p.m. from the Oak Hill Outdoor Center.
