The Middlebury men's swimming and diving team came out strong in its home venue on the opening night of the NESCAC Championship, breaking the school record in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Williams sits atop the leaderboard with 90 points, while Tufts is second (78 points), Connecticut College sits third (74 points) and the Panthers, Amherst and Hamilton are tied in fourth with 64 points. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS

• The quartet of Rodin McKenna, Pierce Bigelow, Matthew Hensel and John Masiello combined for a time of 6:43.81 to finish in seventh place. The time eclipsed the previous school mark of 6:46.10 set back in 2010.
• The 'B' relay comprised of Jack Paul, Will Sonne, Luke McNamara and Ryan Mauney placed 15th with a clocking of 6:52.53.

 
The preliminary heats begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, with diving following at 2:00 p.m. and the finals at 6:00 p.m.
