Middlebury Quartet Competes At NCAA Championship

The Middlebury 4x400-meter relay squad.
The Middlebury women's indoor track and field 4x400-meter relay squad composed of Michelle Louie, Mary Elliot, Lily Bulczynski and Anna Krouse competed at the NCAA Championship in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Friday evening. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Louie got out to a quick start as the lead leg, clocking a blistering split of 58.34 seconds to hand off the baton in first place.
  • The Panthers hung around close to the top with the other three relays, with Elliot and Bulczynski racing the second and third legs.
  • Closing out the relay was Anna Krouse, recording a split of 58.27 seconds, crossing the line with a time of 3:56.74.
  • The time was eighth after two heats of competition, but the final four teams of the third heat outpaced the Panthers for the last spot in the championship race, with only eight teams advancing. 
NOTES
  • The program made its 19th appearance at the NCAA Championship.
  • Middlebury originally had the 13th-quickest time and earned a spot in the event when another team was disallowed. 
  • Louie made her third-straight appearance at the indoor championships, competing on the distance medley relay the last two seasons.
The Panthers begin the outdoor season on March 16 when they travel to California for their spring trip.
