CSC Academic All-District Honors Presented To Five Women’s Soccer Panthers

Five Panthers earned the distinction.
Middlebury women's soccer has garnered five players on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team. Gigi Day, Carolyn Kelley, Lucy Patton, Maddie Schin and Abby Ward each earned the laurel. 
 
HONOREE HIGHLIGHTS
  • Day
    • In her first year of eligibility, Day earns her initial all-district honor.
    • Day played in all 16 games this season, while starting in half of those contests.
    • The Panther was tied for first on the team with four goals and second with nine points.
    • The sophomore is an economics major.
  • Kelley
    • Three-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree Kelley lands a spot on the CSC list for the first time in her career.
    • The neuroscience major started in goal eight times this year, while appearing in 11 games. 
    • The netminder finished third in the conference in goals against average (GAA - .594) and save percentage (.865).
  • Patton
    • The senior is lauded with the award for the first time, while also garnering All-NESCAC First Team accolades this year.
    • The international global studies major appeared in 15 contests with 14 starts, logging the second-highest minute total (1,073) on the Panthers.
    • She was a part of a defensive unit that surrendered just nine goals in 16 matches and had a 0.56 GAA.
    • The captain appeared in 61 career contests with 43 starts and scored a goal during her first season.
  • Schin
    • Schin, a neuroscience major, earns the honor for the first time.
    • The senior tallied all-conference first-team laurels, moving up from the second team a year ago.
    • Schin helped a defensive unit that allowed nine goals in 16 matches and finished with a 0.56 GAA.
    • She paced the squad with 1,249 minutes played and started every contest this fall.
    • Serving as a captain this season, she saw action in 53 career games with 36 starts while tallying a goal as a sophomore.
  • Ward
    • Also garnering the honor for the initial time is Ward, a political science major.
    • She landed a spot on the All-NESCAC Second Team, posting the fourth-most minutes (1,013) in a Panther uniform.
    • The midfielder played in every match with 14 starts, pacing the team with 10 points on four goals and a pair of assists. She posted the game-winning score in a 1-0 season-opening victory at Clark.
    • Ward assisted on the game-winners against Trinity and Connecticut College.
