DMR Earns All-American Laurels At NCAA Championships

The women's DMR earned All-American laurels.
The Middlebury distance medley relay (DMR) squad earned All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. The races were contested on the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C, as the Panthers capped the indoor season.

Kate Kenny kicked off the day in the mile, finishing in 18th place with a time of 5:08.97.

The DMR quartet of Katelyn Pease, Michelle Louie, Nicole Johnson and Cassie Kearney placed fourth in a tightly contested race where less than eight seconds spanned the top-eight teams. Pease got the relay out to a nice start in the 1,200-meter leg, before Louie turned up the heat in the 400, handing off to Johnson in the middle of the pack. Johnson grabbed the baton and maintained a position in the top-eight during the 800. Kearney was stellar in the 1,600, steadily moving up, before kicking in the final two laps. The clock stopped at 11:44.93 when Kearney crossed the finish line, as the squad earned All-American honors with their top-eight finish. The time was the best of the season for Middlebury.
