Cady Barns won the triple jump and placed second in the long jump.
The women's indoor track and field team kicked off its 2022 season by hosting the Middlebury Winter Classic on Saturday at Virtue Field House. The Panthers finished second with 115 points, while the University of Vermont (UVM) won the meet with 161 points. Middlebury will continue its run of three straight home meets next Saturday when it hosts the Middlebury Winterfell starting at 11:00 a.m. at Virtue Field House.
Madeline Sauders won the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 34'11", while
Anna Metzler was right behind in second with a toss of 33'9.25"s. Metzler also placed second in the shot put with a mark of 32'8.25".
Elle Thompson won the 500-meter, edging out UVM's Mia Grasso by less than a second with a time of 1:19.05.
Michelle Louie placed second in the 60m dash, crossing the finish line in 8.16.
Cady Barns won the triple jump with a mark of 36'0". She also placed second in the long jump with a jump of 16'11.5".
Macy Daggitt rounded out the podium in third with a mark of 16'1", while finishing runner-up in the high jump with a leap of 4'11".
Zoe Wang placed second in the pole vault with a mark of 10'8".
Addie Morrison finished second in the 400m in a time of 1:03.94, while
Ashley Raynor was right behind in third (1:04.24).
Middlebury concluded the meet with the team of Louie, Thompson, Raynor and
Audrey Grimes winning the 4x400m relay in a time of 4:20.19.
