RESULTS
The Panther women's golf team finished in second place among eight teams competing at the 2021 NESCAC Women's Golf Fall Golf Qualifier. Based on their effort, Middlebury will take part in the four-team NESCAC Championship (April 30-May 1) this spring at Amherst, who won the event. Today's action took place at the Nonesuch River Golf Club in Scarborough, Maine and was hosted by Bowdoin.
Amherst shot a two-day total of 580 to place first overall. Middlebury moved up a spot to finish in second place with a 595, two strokes better than Williams (597). Hamilton was the fourth team to qualify for the spring championship by shooting a 604.
Audrey Tir continued her impressive weekend, shooting a 73 on Sunday to finish with a two-day total of 143, good for a second-place tie.
Katie Murphy shot the low round of the tournament on Sunday, firing a red-hot 67 to come in with a 144 to tie for fourth place.
Sophia Hwang was Middlebury's third golfer, shooting a 79 to finish in a tie for 12th place with a 151.
Jacqueline Slinkard shot an 80 on Sunday (158) to tie for 21st place, while
Elizabeth Kenter carded an 82 (159) to join others in 23rd place.
Murphy's round of 67 was the lowest score recorded by a women's golfer in Middlebury's history and was also a women's course record.
