Women's Basketball Falls To Tufts

The Middlebury women's basketball team returned from the break with a 78-36 loss to Tufts (8-2) at the Maine Maritime Tournament. The Panthers (3-5) return to action tomorrow in the consolation game against Salve Regina.

The Jumbos owned a sizable 48-23 advantage on the boards in the game, holding the Panthers to just .295 shooting from the floor. With the game tied at 9-9, Tufts slowly began to build its lead, holding a 24-15 advantage with 8:00 remaining. The Jumbos closed the half on a 9-1 run to take a 41-23 advantage into the intermission.

Tufts came out charging in the second half, taking a 31-point lead on a 15-2 run to open the half. Middlebury played evenly for most of the remainder of the half, with Tufts extending its lead down the stretch to pick up the win.

Tracy Borsinger led Middlebury with eight points, Brittany Perfetti added seven with three assists and three steals, while Maddie Moreau scored six.

Bre Dufault was one of four Tufts players in double figures, pacing the Jumbos with 16 points in the game.
